Samsung Galaxy Nexus Reviewed

 The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is among one of the most hyped smartphones for the Galaxy series. The original Nexus was to be a game changer in the phone industry, but it didn't exactly launch as well as some would have thought. The beauty in the Nexus lineup is that it is vanilla Android, no other bloatware running on top, which means the Nexus line up is among the first to have the latest and greatest version of Android. 

Samsung Epic 4G Touch Reviewed

 The original Samsung Epic 4G was somewhat of a disappointment for customers, while others delighted in the changes it had from the original Galaxy S. The glaring difference was the inclusion of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which is definitely a polarizing addition. The Epic 4G Touch is the follow up and the first U.S. release of the Galaxy S 2, and this time, it's not bringing a physical QWERTY keyboard with it.

Introducing the Samsung Galaxy Note

It was reported before on the Samsung Galaxy News Blog that a hybrid phone / tablet would be on its way from Samsung.  Originally, it was thought to be named the Samsung Galaxy Q, and now it seems like its actually been unveiled at the IFA.  Named the Samsung Galaxy Note, the non-phone, non-tablet device is Samsung's latest invention for the Galaxy line up.  It features a 5.3 inch screen and a stylus pen, merging the old school train of thought for smart devices while bringing in the newer designs of modern tablets.  Some may consider this a really big smartphone or a really small tablet, so it will be interesting to see how well Samsung can market the device.

Two Extra Fast Devices from Samsung

Samsung has announced that at the IFA in Berlin, later this week, they will reveal an LTE enabled Samsung Galaxy S2 as well as an LTE enabled Galaxy Tab 8.9.  The LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus display while the Tab 8.9 keeps its extremely slim figure and an 8.9 inch display.  The IFA is shaping up to be a very exciting even for Android devices, and Samsung is really raising the bar for their products.

Samsung Galaxy Precedent

It looks like Wal-Mart and Tracfone will be offering the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, an entry level Android powered smartphone, with no contractual obligations attached.  It's expected to be below $150, while still featuring Android 2.2, an 800 MHz processor and a 2 megapixel camera.  It's not too bad for the price, and easily competes with the entry level LG Optimus line up that's offered on all major and regional carriers.

Samsung Gets New Naming Schema

It looks like Samsung is changing up the ways they name and label their smartphones.  They will be keeping the main names, Galaxy, Wave and Omnia, but will be adding letter designations based on the market they're going after.  The Galaxy line will remains as the Android flagship, the Wave the Bada (Samsung's own OS) flagship and the Omnia will remain the Windows Phone 7 flagship names.  The difference comes in the letters after the main name.

Samsung Galaxy Fit Review

Samsung has been on a dominant spree in the smartphone market, especially for higher end devices. That doesn't mean they've forgotten the middle tier and entry level markets. The Samsung Galaxy Fit is the entry level version of the Samsung Galaxy S. For people who can't quite afford the Galaxy S, the Galaxy Fit may be the device to check out.

Samsung Barred in European Union

Troubling news, it seems the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been barred in the majority of the European Union.  This is stemming from the patent violation claims made by Apple.  The Netherlands is not among the nations barring the Galaxy Tab 10.1, but Apple has a separate lawsuit underway there.  This is only a preliminary injunction on Samsung at the moment, and is not permanent, but it shows that the European Union feels there's a strong case by Apple being made against Samsung. 

Hercules = T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S2

It looks like TmoNews has gotten a bit of unofficial confirmation that the Samsung Hercules that has been long rumored to be T-Mobile's super powered Samsung handset is, in fact, their variant of the Samsung Galaxy S2.  The Hercules is set to have a 4.5 inch display, like the Samsung Infuse, and access to T-Mobile's 4G HSPA+ network, allowing up to 42 Mbps.  It's also rumored to feature dual core, 1.2 GHz processors which is good news for folks looking for a faster operating system.

Nexus S Free at Best Buy

If you head out to Best Buy and get on a 2 year contract with T-Mobile, AT&T or Sprint, the Nexus S comes free!  The deal is only for today, August 3rd, so if you're itching for a free Nexus S, today is the only day to get it.  A free Nexus S is actually a sweet deal considering it is supported fully by Google, features stock Android, NFC, and some powerful specs. The best idea would to be to hop onto T-Mobile's plans, as they are the cheapest, and once the buy out occurs, just stay grandfathered in at AT&T with the Nexus S.

Sign Up for the Galaxy S2

Samsung announced that the Samsung Galaxy S2 would be launched in August in the United States.  To prep for this release, they've gone ahead and launched a sign up page for users interested in hearing the latest news about the Galaxy S2.  This definitely shows progress and it looks like the Galaxy S2 is on its way towards debuting this month in the U.S.

Sprint Galaxy S2 Set for 4G

The Sprint edition of the Samsung Galaxy S2, dubbed the Samsung Within, has passed through the FCC and it looks to have WiMAX functionality, meaning it will be a 4G powerhouse.  This is good news for the Galaxy S2, and it might actually be a good thing that the Galaxy S2 had a delayed release in the States.  If the Within is a 4G smartphone, there's no doubt that the other versions for the other U.S. carriers will also be 4G enabled.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Hits 5M

Samsung has announced that in 85 days, they have sold 5 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S2, and that's not including the United States!  With the rumor that August will be the month that the Galaxy S2 arrives in the States, one has to wonder how much more they'll be able to sell.  

Samsung has released the map above to show what countries the Galaxy S2 has hit.  Samsung has done an amazing job with the global release of the Galaxy S2 and with the U.S. release on the horizon, Samsung is expecting to hit 10 million.

Samsung Galaxy S2 To Arrive on Verizon First?

With the announcement that the Samsung Galaxy S2 will finally land in the U.S., rumors are abound that the Verizon version of the Galaxy S2, that has been named the Samsung Function, will arrive on August 12.  Shortly thereafter, the other various versions of the Galaxy S2 will be seen on the other U.S. carriers.  It looks like the future is looking brighter for Samsung!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on 7/28/2011

It looks like the Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE connectivity is about to be released soon.  People who have preordered this device have reported a shipping date of 7/26, which means it's probably going to be reaching doorsteps on 7/28.  There's also been displays of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in certain Verizon stores, so it looks like it's pretty much right around the corner.

Samsung Galaxy 3D?

Rumors are abound that Samsung may be entering into the 3D market now with a 3D version of the Galaxy.  HTC and LG are currently the leads when it comes to 3D technology that doesn't need glasses on smartphones, and if Samsung were to enter, it would not only expand the market but put another dent against their Korean competitor LG.  While HTC is doing well, LG has consistently been performing negatively with Samsung dominating in its home country of Korea as well as globally.

It is also rumored that the Samsung Galaxy 3D will be powered by a new 1.2 GHz processor, though no one seems to know if it will be single or dual core.  In addition, it seems Android 4.0 will be the OS of choice.  It will be interesting to see if this rumor turns out to be true or not.

The Nexus S Arrives on AT&T

Eight months after being released for T-Mobile, the Nexus S is landing on AT&T on July 24th.  Sprint has already grabbed their version of the Nexus S and upgraded it to 4G, but the AT&T version will not have that same type of upgrade.  The Nexus S landing on AT&T's network will be pretty much the same Nexus S found on T-Mobile's network, with a different radio to get on a different network.  It's a bit of a timing blunder as the new iPhone is on its way to AT&T, and 8 months after its initial release is pretty much end of lifecycle for many smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S2 4G Available in Canada!

Virgin Mobile and Bell Mobility in Canada have officially released the Samsung Galaxy S2 4G.  Buying the phone outright will be a little under $600, but on a one year contract through Bell, it will be $574.95 and on a two year contract, $549.95.  The three year price will be a few cents under $170 for both carriers.

Canadians, do us proud and buy those beautiful Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphones!

Samsung Galaxy S2 - US Release in August!

It's been reported by the Yonhap News that Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung's mobile business and digital imaging, announced that the Galaxy S2 will be released in the U.S. next month!  

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S2

will finally make its debut in the U.S., though the variants have yet to be announced.  It's interesting to note that the August release date is somewhere around the same timeframe that Apple is rumored to release the iPhone 5.  Seems like August is going to be heavily competitive month for smartphones!

Introducing the Samsung Galaxy R

It looks like another addition to the Galaxy line up is on its way.  The Samsung Galaxy R is the in-between smartphone, better than the original Galaxy S but cheaper than the existing Galaxy S2.  It seems to be a fairly bold move by Samsung to release a smartphone that's similar to the Galaxy S2, but it seems to be a good idea for capturing the market that can't afford the S2.
