Samsung Galaxy S Runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)

Not surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy S has been hacked into working with Android 2.3.  This is no surprise considering the newly released Samsung Nexus S is just a slightly redesigned Galaxy S with extremely similar hardware.  The wonderful hackers at XDA have taken the Nexus S rom and successfully ported over to the Galaxy S.  Though the port isn't 100% functional at the moment, one can only expect that it will be soon enough.  The WiFi and GPS currently do not work but the other features seem to be smooth and fine.

Video after the break.

It looks like people may have to resort to rooting and porting the ROM over if they wish to continue updating their Samsung Galaxy S smartphones at the rate Samsung is releasing their updates.
