Samsung Gets New Naming Schema

It looks like Samsung is changing up the ways they name and label their smartphones.  They will be keeping the main names, Galaxy, Wave and Omnia, but will be adding letter designations based on the market they're going after.  The Galaxy line will remains as the Android flagship, the Wave the Bada (Samsung's own OS) flagship and the Omnia will remain the Windows Phone 7 flagship names.  The difference comes in the letters after the main name.

Samsung Galaxy S2 - The Best Selling Smartphone from Samsung

In just a mere 55 days, Samsung has sold 3 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S2.  That's a staggering number and a great sign for Samsung to continue using the Galaxy label for their smartphones.  The high end smartphone featuring a dual core processor, Android 2.3 and a Super AMOLED Plus screen from Samsung definitely has all the features to capture the market.

One can only wonder what the four variants for the four large U.S. carriers will look like for the Samsung Galaxy S2.  Once they are released, expect those numbers to boost up quite a bit.

Samsung Galaxy S2 is the Nexus S?

The recent rumor flying around the Samsung Galaxy S2, or the Samsung Galaxy 2, is that it's actually the Nexus S with TouchWiz UI overlayed on top. Similar to the Nexus One and the HTC Desire, it could be a play to not only reach out through Google but also through carriers as well. The specs would remain the same, or just slightly different, and the main difference would be TouchWiz UI.

This method did work out well for HTC.  After releasing the Nexus One, they then put SenseUI on top and rebranded the phone as the HTC Desire.  Samsung following close with the same method may work out just as well, and from a business standpoint, it makes sense.
