Nexus S Officially Released!

The Samsung manufactured, Google branded, Nexus S has finally officially been released.  A little over 2 years ago, the HTC manufactured, Google branded Nexus One made its debut to quite a bit of fanfare.  The Nexus S is the official successor to the Nexus One.

The Nexus S will also be the first Android handset to come out with Android 2.3, Gingerbread.  It will also be the first handset to feature Near Field Communication (NFC).  The Nexus S is shaping up to be an amazing successor to the Nexus One with the 4 inch curved AMOLED screen, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), NFC, and IP calling
.

The Nexus S will be available for $199 on contract through T-Mobile or $529 without a contract starting December 16th and will be available in the UK starting December 20th.  It has yet to be seen whether the Nexus S will be sold directly through Google, similar to the Nexus One or if T-Mobile will be offering an option to buy from them.  After the disastrous launch of the Nexus One, and the confusion it caused, one has to expect that this second round will be much smoother.

Expect a review of the Nexus S here on the Samsung Galaxy News Blog.
